Free Images, Vectors and Video Content

Attention all site owners, bloggers and designers! Do you need free images, vectors and video content that is legally free? The world be a dull place without them! The problem we run into is finding affordable images. Some services (like Getty) can be OUT-ragiously expensive. By the way, don’t screw around with Getty, they have a pack of lawyers waiting to take your money (and/or business).

What I look for is Creative Commons (CC) licensed images. You have to pay close attention as some are not allowed to be used in commercial sites (site that make money). There are several types of Creative Commons licenses. Each license differs by several combinations that condition the terms of distribution. Always pay attention to the type of CC license for each image.

I caution you to pay close attention when using public domain images. Even though an image may be labeled as “public domain“, the person submitting it might not be the real owner. Do your homework!

I cannot remember the last time I paid for image. Here are two sites that I personally use when I need an image. Both are pretty good, but I normally use

Pixabay:

Pixabay features free images and royalty free stock. Over 2.5 million+ high quality stock images, videos and music shared by our talented community.

openverse:

Browse through over 600 million items to reuse. All openverse content is under a Creative Commons license or is in the public domain.

There are many, many other sites that offer free images vectors and video content, but I do not have time to read their cryptic terms. The two above serves my image needs and will most likely serve yours too.
